ponderings and passions

A set of occasional notes about Stringbabies, music festival adjudication and other things that I’m interested in:

Rather later than I would have liked to, I am reporting back on the second Stringbabies Fundraising event.
Through a combination of sponsored practices, concerts and gifts, a total of £667.50 was raised for The Children’s Trust in Tadworth.
The next event, when it is organised, will be to raise funds for the NSPCC.

Jan 22, 2013 New from the BBC

[author: KayTheEd - categories: ]

A real treat for the start of 2013 was to be invited to previews of two major music programmes by the BBC.
The first one of these is Howard Goodall’s ‘Story of Music’. It is a six part series of hour long programmes being broadcast on BBC 2 starting Saturday January 26th and is being supported with complimentary programming on Radio 3 and online resources for teachers.
I shall blog about the second series later.

It has been a very hectic couple of months and 2013 promises to be no less so.

However, there have been two particularly exciting developments to report - one concerning Rosins and the other of interest to recorder players!

So much has happened since Easter that I thought it was time to write a brief account!

The day after arriving home from a break in the Yorkshire Dales I was up at Westminster, meeting the Shadow Culture Minister, Dan Jarvis MP, at his offices. It was a wonderful opportunity to share with Dan about my work and to also discuss the National Plan for Music Education (NPME).

Writing has unfortunately had to go on the back burner for a few weeks but I am looking forward to getting back to writing after Easter. Here is where things are up to….

Dec 01, 2011 National Plan for Music Education

[author: kay tucker - categories: Strings ]

The long awaited National Plan for Music Education (NPME)was released on last Friday.

The emails hit me as soon as we landed on the British coast…nearly 200 of them.
